Hey Hey Hey!
So I've done it! Heum... What am I doing?

So I've done it! Heum... What am I doing?

I've bought an off-grid property with more than dreams and hopes. I've been planing this for many many years and got into this knowing that not all will go as planned. I also know that many things that I will start here wont come to maturity before I'm long gone. What I'm doing here is more than self-sustaining and self-reliance. This is doing what I can to make the world better while living in a way that goes well with my moral values.
Among my first projects, grow tons of food... Without gas guzzling machines therefore on a scale that a single person can manage. The first years will be dedicated to establishing the perennials as they take the longest before they can produce food. Here you can think of vegetable like asparagus and rhubarb, all the berries and the fruit trees and... I mentioned projects I wont be able to see come to maturity: Maple trees for maple syrup and a variety of other trees for their nuts. You'll be able to find out more in this blog about my views and practices regarding agriculture, growing your own food and such
I do need more than food. As this property is off-grid, producing my own energy is also among my first projects. I wished I could of found a property that offered a stream of water adequate for a small hydro-power station. I do have a stream but I could not depend on it all year round. Solar energy is my main go to for my situation. But hydro is still not eliminated from the options, wind too is in consideration. More to come on this too.
Animals. Some might of seen the pictures of my barn cats on Facebook. But as I'm writing this introduction message, no one knows yet that I have a couple of chickens, a rooster and some rabbits. I do intend of also raising other small animals such as goats and pigs but one step at a time. I'll cover more on this as well.
Some people ask me if I will be doing videos. It is a possibility that I've looked into and considered even before buying the property and starting my new venture. Now that I'm here, the work load is already big enough that I do not take the time to set up the cameras to document everything I'm doing. But I might start if the demand is high enough.
I think this intro covers the basics. I will probably extend into other subjects.
Oh yeah! Before I go, I will be selling seeds and plants soon and probably give away some too. Come back to see my updates.
Hugs and smiles.
